Borrow ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines to read on your phone or tablet using the Libby app by OverDrive. You can also send your borrowed ebooks to your Kindle e-reader! It’s free and easy to get started for new users. This service is provided by the New Hampshire State Library.

​TumbleBook Library is an online collection of e-books for children in grades K-6. There are over 350 animated, talking picture books and the collection also features books in Spanish and French, read-along chapter books, graphic novels, and non-fiction books. Games and puzzles are also available!

​hoopla Digital offers audiobooks, eBooks, comics and manga, music, movies, TV, and more, including BingePass! All are available 24/7 with no holds and no waiting. To get started, download the hoopla app from your device's app store or visit hoopladigital.com and sign in with your library card number. You can borrow up to four titles a month and borrows reset on the first of each month. Check out bonus borrows on hoopla during the last week of each month!

The resources below are not affiliated with the Newmarket Library but align with our mission to ​inform, connect, and entertain. All are reliable information sources and are nonprofit or academic in nature.
Community Resources
  • Town of Newmarket, NH: Learn about town services, make online payments, find forms, documents, meeting minutes, and department information, as well as information on boards and commissions. Subscribe to town news and alerts here. 
  • Lamprey River Advisory Committee: Find resources for exploring and learning about the Wild and Scenic River.
  • Newmarket Community Church Food Pantry: The NCC Food Pantry provides access to nutritious food to people in the greater community who experience food insecurity while building community, creating connection, enriching lives and community service opportunities. The NCC Food Pantry is open every Thursday from 12pm to 6pm.​
  • Newmarket Historical Society: A fantastic resource for local Newmarket history. View documents, family histories, photo albums, newspapers, vital statistics, and more at their website. Visit the Stone School Museum during their open season.
  • Newmarket Recreation: Participate in Newmarket Recreation's activities, events, and parks programs. Newmarket Recreation strives to offer a variety of recreational experiences to all members of the Newmarket Community. 
  • Sunrise Sunset Center: The Sunrise Sunset 55+ Adult Activity Center serves Newmarket and the surrounding areas. We run regular social, education, and health programs, or you can just drop in for a cup of coffee, check out our lending library, or work on a puzzle! You don't need to be a resident of Newmarket and membership is always free!

  • Exeter Adult Education. Exeter Adult Education helps lifelong learners develop skills, grow personally and professionally, and enrich their lives. Basic Skills (reading, writing, math), HiSET preparation, and ESL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes are FREE. Sponsored by the Exeter Region Cooperative School District.
  • GCFLearnFree.org. For more than a decade, the GCFLearnFree.org program has helped millions around the world learn the essential skills they need to live and work in the 21st century. From Microsoft Office and email to reading, math, and more, GCFLearnFree.org offers more than 180 topics, including more than 2,000 lessons, 800+ videos, and 55+ interactives and games, completely free.
  • New Hampshire Humanities: Visit for upcoming events that cover a wide range of cultural topics. New Hampshire Humanities connects people and ideas by funding and supporting statewide programs that inspire curiosity, foster civil dialogue, and explore big questions.
  • University of New Hampshire Career Resources. UNH's Career Resources provide help with resumes, interview skills, networking, and more. They also have links to additional services and resources.
Research Databases and Books​
  • BookShare.org: Bookshare was created to make a wide variety of ebooks and audiobooks available to those with reading barriers. BookShare offers totally customized reading experiences with karaoke-style highlighted readalongs, braille offerings, choices of fonts and sizes, audio voice options, and speed. 
  • Consumer Price Index: Consumer Price Index cost of living information, nationally and regionally and by category.
  • ​Digital Public Library of America. Discover over 33,000,000 images, texts, videos, and sounds from across the United States.
  • ​Internet Archive Wayback Machine: This nonprofit digital library allows access to millions of free books, movies, music, and much more.
  • Library of Congress: The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world with millions of books, recordings, photographs, newspapers, maps, and manuscripts in their collections. It is also the home of the U.S. Copyright Office.
  • ​The New Hampshire Gazette: View digital copies of the Nation's Oldest Newspaper!
  • Project Gutenberg: A library of over 75,000 free eBooks. Choose from free epub and Kindle ebboks, download them or read online. Find the world's great literature, with a focus on older works for which U.S. copyright has expired.

  • National Archives & Records Administration Genealogy Page - One of the largest collections of genealogy information in the U.S. and an extensive Founding Documents Library
  • New Hampshire State Library History Collection- The New Hampshire State Library houses approximately 2400 titles of published family histories for New Hampshire and New England. This collection is enhanced by the unique name index to early town records on microfilm. The town records, ranging in years for each town but falling roughly between the years 1640 to 1830/40, can provide birth and marriage dates, as well as listings of such items as tax inventories. Other major resources available include town and county histories, annual town reports, federal census records for NH, NH newspapers on microfilm, genealogical columns of the "Boston Transcript", city and county directories, and military indexes. They also offer limited research assistance.

  • University of New Hampshire Digital Collections: Contains photos, maps, info about NH cities and towns, and local history and genealogy. Digital Collections contains digital versions of books, letters, photographs, and other items from the collections of the University of New Hampshire Library. The focus of Digital Collections is the history of New Hampshire, its people, places, events, governance, and industries, including the history of UNH. 
  • Veterans History Project - A collection of historic U.S. military documents aimed to document U.S. military veterans.
  • Library of Congress - The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world, with millions of books, recordings, photographs, newspapers, maps and manuscripts in its collections. The Library is the main research arm of the U.S. Congress and the home of the U.S. Copyright Office.
Preservation Tools and Resources
  • Saving Your Stuff-Tips for preserving audio, books, data, documents and papers, film and home movies, photos, scrapbooks, slides, and textiles.
  • Get Advice- Learn how to care for your items from preservation specialist Donia Conn and her advice column on preservation.
  • Get Started with Preservation- Excellent starting point for beginners from the American Library Association. Topics include disaster recovery, how to take care of a variety of collections, and tips for getting started with your project. 
  • Free Preservation Webinars- A comprehensive list of free instructional videos on preservation.
