Events and Activities

Holds Pickup
You may place holds on items from our collection and pick them up at the library. Here’s how it works:
  • Step 1: Place a hold. You can place holds by logging into our online catalog, and clicking “Place Hold” once you’ve found what you want. Click here to learn how to log into our catalog. You can also call the library at (603) 659-5311 or email us at staff@newmarketlibrary.org
  • Step 2: Wait for notification. The library will email or call you when your hold is ready to be picked up. Please check your spam/junk folders for notifications. If the item you placed on hold was available, your hold will usually be ready the same day or following business day. If your hold was currently checked out to another patron, the library will notify you when it arrives.
  • Step 3: Pick up your hold. Visit the circulation desk for your holds. The item will be checked out to your account when the hold arrives.
Interlibrary Loan
The interlibrary loan service is available. Visit our interlibrary loan webpage to make a request.
Internet Access
Library patrons have three options for free internet access through the library.
  • Public Computers. Three public access computers are available in the library on a first-come-first-served basis. Use of a computer is limited to 30 minutes per day for each patron.  To request computer use, visit the circulation desk inside the library.
  • Wi-Fi. Patrons are welcome to use the library’s Wi-Fi on the library grounds or in the parking lot.
  • Borrow a Device. The library has one internet-enabled tablet for patrons to check out and one WIFI hotspot. These devices use the Verizon cellular network to connect to the internet, and do not require a patron to have their own internet connection at home. They can be borrowed for 3 days at a time. To request a device, call the library at (603) 659-5311 or email us at staff@newmarketlibrary.org
Meeting Room Use
The Newmarket Public Library has one large meeting room available for use. The capacity is 60. Please read the Meeting Room Use Procedure and Policy and fill out the Meeting Room Application. Return the application to the library and the Director will contact you after application review.
New Library Cards
Residents, teachers, folks who work in Newmarket, property owners, and students in Newmarket are entitled to a free library card. Out-of-town folks can pay a yearly fee of $50. To sign up for a library card, visit the library with a photo ID and proof of residence/property/teacher/employment status in Newmarket. Playspace
All are welcome to enjoy the playspace in our children's room. Our vibrant playspace was made possible by the IMLS Grants to States Program through the American Rescue Act Plan of 2021. Our playspace, along with books and crafts, help children develop strong emotional, social, and literacy skills.
