Winter Reading ChallengeJanuary 1st- February 28th, prize winners will be drawn on March 1st.
Join us for a fun winter reading bingo challenge for all ages! Receive a raffle ticket for each line of bingo and enter to win one of three winter reading prize baskets. Bingo sheets will be available at the Library in January. We'd like to thank our patron who generously made and donated three crocheted baskets for our prize packs. They won the 2023 Cozy Basket Bingo and learned to crochet after enjoying the beautiful blanket prize. |

History and Mystery: A Genealogy Starter GuideWednesday, January 8th at 3:30pm - held at the Newmarket Public Library
Click here to register! Are you interested in family history? Do you spend time in graveyards wondering about the names on the stones? You might be a genealogy enthusiast! Genealogy is the exploration of ancestral lines and can be done through countless records, resources, and artifacts. Join us to explore useful methods for research planning through the case study of Elsie Gaskin (an eccentric librarian from New Hampshire) and become a better researcher along the way. This program is made possible by New Hampshire Humanities! Erin E. Moulton writes books and tracks dead people. As a researcher, slipping into old records and exploring past lives is something she has done for herself and others for over 14 years. Erin is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, The New Hampshire Historical Society, The New Hampshire Society of Genealogists and she serves on the landmark committee for the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire. She has written several books, mostly for children. |
Comic Book WorkshopsFriday, January 17th- held at the Newmarket Public Library
Ryan L. Higgins will be here to host two workshops for aspiring comic book artists! All materials are provided. How to Draw Comic Characters at 1pm *grades 3-6 only* Click here to register! Ryan will show you step-by-step how to build characters from basic shapes. You'll start with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Ryan's superhero creation. Want to draw your own favorites? Community SwapWednesday, January 29th: Drop off day (optional)
Thursday, January 30th-Saturday, February 1st: Shop the swap! Cleaning out items after the holidays? Share with our community! Drop off items early on Wednesday, January 29th or bring them Thursday-Saturday and shop the swap. All items must be clean and in good working condition. We will accept: Puzzles and games (please make sure they have all the pieces!), art, small home decor items, craft and hobby items, clothing, shoes, toys, winter clothing, jewelry, and small gift items. We will NOT accept: Garden supplies, tools, food, tableware, linens, blankets, furniture, electronics, books, or plants. |

Beyond the Bedside: Planning to Care from Complexity to ClarityMonday, February 10th from 4-5:30pm- held at the Newmarket Public Library
Click here to register! Caregiving has gotten complicated- we're living longer, managing health challenges, and our support teams are often in different time zones. Join Laura Clemison, Founder of the Pre-Dead Social Club, for a workshop that addresses the many challenges of caregiving. This workshop is for current or future caregivers and those they care for. Together, we'll step back to assess caregiving demands, identify gaps, and uncover what's urgent and important. Explore ways to share responsibilities and support everyone involved by leveraging strengths within their family and community. Whether planning for next week or next year, participants will leave with tools, strategies, and clarity to approach caregiving as a team, while avoiding assumptions and navigating challenges with confidence. |
