Remote Access Resources on the Web

Ebooks & Audiobooks

Internet Archive - millions of free ebooks, audiobooks, movies, and more
Internet Archive has an overwhelming amount of material available through the public domain or Creative Commons, all available for free. You can easily enjoy media in your web browser or download items in a variety of formats. Ebooks require you to sign up for an account to borrow them -- you only need to provide your email address, but make sure to always read the privacy policy when creating an online account.

Overdrive and Libby - borrow free ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines
Use Overdrive, or Overdrive’s mobile app, Libby, to borrow up to three ebooks or audiobooks at a time. Magazines don’t count towards this limit. You can access Overdrive/Libby in two ways:
1) Visit the Newmarket Public Library website and click on the link for Libby. On the NH Overdrive website, click “Sign In”, then enter Newmarket as your library and enter your library card number. If you don’t know your library card number, contact us at newmarketlibrarystaff@gmail.com.
2) Visit your mobile device’s app store and download the Libby app for free. Open the Libby app and follow the prompts to select Newmarket Public Library (under the umbrella of the New Hampshire State Library) as your library, and then enter your library card number. If you don’t know your library card number, contact us at newmarketlibrarystaff@gmail.com.

Project Gutenberg - classic and free-to-read ebooks
Project Gutenberg is a library of over 60,000 free ebooks, with a focus on works whose copyrights have expired in the United States. This is a great resource for brushing up on the classics like Lewis Carroll, Jane Austen, or Mark Twain.

TumbleBooks - free ebooks and audiobooks in your web browser
Tumbleweed Press has made their AudioBookCloud, RomanceBookCloud, and TeenBookCloud ebook libraries free for public library patrons during the COVID-19 outbreak! They have ebooks and audiobooks available to enjoy instantly in your internet browser. These resources are available through the Newmarket Public Library, and there is no need to sign up or anything -- simply click the links to start reading.
