Ben's Guide to the U.S. Government
This U.S. Government Publishing Office resource introduces kids and teens to the ins-and-outs of U.S. government. Boston Children's Museum The Boston Children's Museum's Play and Learning Resources portal offers many educational resources. Some highlights include Beyond the Chalkboard, a collection of afterschool activities, and the Japanese House website, where you can virtually tour the 100-year-old house. Children's Book Council The nonprofit CBC has compiled a list of activities and resources that children's book publishers have made available for free. Children's Museum of New Hampshire The Children's Museum in Dover is offering free online content while their doors are closed. Crafts and activities are available on the museum's blog. Their YouTube page has many useful videos. The museum's online resources page also has curriculums and STEM videos. EBSCO Learning Express - free practice and review EBSCO Learning Express offers practice and review sets for Elementary, Middle, and High School courses. Access to Learning Express is available through the Newmarket Library. Just visit the library's Digital Resources webpage and then click the Learning Express Library link. You will need to enter your Newmarket Library card number and then sign up for an account. If you don’t know your library card number, contact us. Khan Academy - free online courses and COVID-19 resources Khan Academy is a nonprofit that offers free online K-12 courses, lessons, and practice. You can create a free account as a teacher or parent. The website has a handy guide for using Khan Academy during school closures. Mystery Science - free K-5 science lessons Mystery Science, which provides membership-based lessons for grade K-5, is offering some of their most popular lessons for free, no account required. NASA Space Place Games, crafts, activities, and videos all about space! NASA STEM - activities, videos, and homework help NASA STEM has scientific engagement resources for students of all ages. PBS Learning Media - free curated videos, interactives, and lesson plans The PBS Learning Media website has thousands of classroom resources, accessible via a powerful search engine. TumbleBooks - ebooks, animated read-alongs, and math help Tumbleweed Press has made their TumbleBook children’s ebook library free for public library patrons during the COVID-19 outbreak! They have ebooks, animated read-alongs, graphic novels, and more, all available to enjoy in your internet browser. TumbleMath also offers similar resources for math learning. These resources are available through the Newmarket Public Library, and there is no need to sign up or anything -- simply click the links to start reading. WMUR Virtual Weather Lessons

While school is out, Amazon is streaming children's Audible audiobooks for free. Stories are available in six languages, including French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish. Authors Everywhere A YouTube channel with tons of read-alouds performed by authors and illustrators. Book Riot’s List of Read-Alouds Book Riot has compiled this helpful list of authors who are putting streaming and posting video read-alongs. Kate Messner’s List of Read-Alouds Author Kate Messner has assembled a huge number of read-alouds and other videos featuring children’s literature authors. KidLit TV Read-alouds, draw-alongs, interviews with authors, kids' podcasts, crafts and activities. Librarian Bookends' Daily Schedule of Read-Alouds Check this librarians' blog everyday for a schedule of author and illustrator read-alouds occurring throughout the day. Publishers Weekly's Roundup of Kids' Literature Resources Plenty of options for reading, drawing, and engagement at home on this regularly updated list. Romper’s List of Famous People Reading Children’s Books Online parenting magazine Romper has compiled a big helping of author/illustrator/celebrity readings on one webpage. Storyline Online This children's literacy website produced by the SAG-AFTRA Foundation features videos of popular actors performing read-alouds. Each book is accompanied by a teacher's guide. |
